Vox is a voice AI platform built around a real, working phone call. You call a phone number, an AI assistant (built on Anthropic's Claude) answers, and you interact with it hands-free — no app to open, no screen to look at. The phone front door is called cartalk: it routes inbound calls through a real-time telephony pipeline (Twilio for the call itself, Deepgram for speech-to-text, Cartesia for text-to-speech) and Claude for understanding what's said and generating a spoken response.
Beyond the phone call, Vox is a small family of connected web applications (we call them "citizen apps") that share one account system. Sign in once, and that identity works across every app in the platform.
Voice AI phone assistant (cartalk). Call in and choose from several conversational modes by pressing a digit on the keypad: general chat, trivia, Spanish language practice, a collaborative story mode, a 20-questions game, a live baseball broadcast style narration, a fantasy baseball assistant, and a job-search status update. Each mode is a real-time, low-latency voice conversation with Claude.
Connected web apps ("citizen apps"). Each Vox citizen app is an independently built and deployed service that shares the platform's login:
Shared account & identity. One login covers every app on the platform. Today, sign-in works by email: enter your email address, and we send a one-time secure link that signs you in — no password to create or remember. That session then carries across every citizen app on the platform.
Phone-based sign-in (SMS). Alongside email sign-in, Vox offers an optional phone-number sign-in flow at cartalk.fly.dev/auth/login: enter your number, and we text a one-time verification code via SignalWire (A2P 10DLC registered). The opt-in screen states explicitly that entering a number and requesting a code means opting in to receive SMS for authentication purposes, and that replying STOP opts out at any time. SMS is used exclusively to deliver that one-time code — never for marketing or promotional messages. Full SMS use policy is in the privacy policy below.
Vox is built and operated by Serge Braverman, an independent software engineer based in the San Francisco Bay Area, operating as Serge LLC (in formation). Vox is a self-funded, single-operator software project — not venture-backed, not a reseller, and not affiliated with any telecom carrier. All engineering, from the telephony pipeline to the auth backend, is built in-house.
